CJ Bolland [R&S Records]

DJ / Live - travels from Antwerp, BEL

Few artists in electronic music have demonstrated the consistency and longevity of CJ Bolland. The pioneering English-Belgian producer and remixer played a major role in shaping the early 1990s Techno and Rave scene. Raised in Antwerp, Bolland became one of the key artists on R&S Records, releasing seminal tracks such as Horsepower, Camargue and The Prophet, as well as the US #1 hit Sugar Is Sweeter. His extensive remix work includes major acts such as Orbital, The Prodigy and Depeche Mode.

A true veteran of electronic music, Bolland has remained active as a producer and DJ, continuing to connect his pioneering sound with a new generation of club culture. His recent appearances include Listen Festival in Brussels, Dekmantel in Amsterdam, Tresor and other key European clubs, as well as a series of collaborations and B2Bs with artists including Nosedrip and Mary Lake. At Listen Festival, he joined Nosedrip for a 120-minute B2B and was also the subject of a live Resident Advisor Exchange exploring his contribution to the development of Belgian rave and acid techno.

In 2026, Bolland appeared at Mala Junta’s 8th Anniversary at RSO.BERLIN, performing B2B with Mary Lake alongside a lineup representing some of the most forward-thinking voices in contemporary underground techno and house.

His July 2026 BLITZ Munich B2B with The Advent, however, marked a particularly significant moment. The three-hour set brought Bolland and Cisco Ferreira back together to revisit the raw, analogue sound of their early Ravesignal recordings. The experience directly sparked the revival of Ravesignal, bringing one of the foundational projects of early European techno back into active touring.

Beyond his solo career, Bolland has also been involved in numerous band projects, most notably Magnus, the Belgian Indie/Pop project formed with dEUS frontman Tom Barman, which became widely known in the early 2000s. His more recent work includes collaborations with Belgian artists Mary Lake and Nosedrip, further underlining his ability to move naturally between generations, scenes and musical languages.

More than three decades after his breakthrough, CJ Bolland is therefore not simply a pioneer being celebrated for his past, he remains an active and relevant force within contemporary electronic music.
