ERAM [ZONAexp / Tijolo Records]

São Paulo, Brasil

A self styled & multidisciplinary troublemaker, Brazilian DJ ERAM has made a home outta Europe yet.

With her DJ sets of late opening up to an audience the furthest west it’s been, ERAM throws down a juke-trance-jungle infusion of hardcore, drum and bass and rave, with a blend of urban funk and club styles. Her way, she says, calls upon the Porto Alegre neighbourhoods of her youth and rural raves she first experienced at 12 years old. Ten years later she found herself an active DJ amidst nationwide protests in Brazil that would use music to occupy streets, squares and marginalised spaces, to where she is today playing festivals and headlining club shows.

With breaks, jungle, footwork and ghettotech a strong inspiration to her sound, two years locked down in the studio as a producer has seen her return to the club with ties to labels like ZONAᴇxᴘ. and Brooklyn’s Tijolo Records, to European outposts Ghetto Traxx, RAIDERS_RECORDS and Gimme A Break.

Having traversed the Brasília-Rio De Janeiro-São Paulo clubland and rave scene, she’s hit the European underground with gigs at Berlin clubs Tresor and RSO - between a tour taking in Lisboa’s Music Box and Nitsa in Barcelona, POING in Rotterdam - to appearing at the infamous Bang Face Weekender and Tbilisi super club Bassiani’s South American tour.

With the music she’s self-released also nourishing the roots of Brazilian rap and favela funk to wilder kuduro and baile rhythms, it’s her sense for UKG and deeper genres like Detroit jit and electro that sees her style stand out. And taking in mixes for Reprezent Radio with Samurai Breaks!, CTM Festival’s Transformation live stream and spots on HÖR, Rinse France and The Footwork Jungle, it’s clear ERAM has found her own space nestled deep within the hardcore continuum.
